Urgent Advisory:

Changes in Eviction Proceedings in King County

The courts in King County have instituted a new ruling that has immediate effect on eviction cases where a separate CARES Act notice was served with the eviction notice. They argue that the presence of the CARES Act notice is confusing for tenants and invalidates the eviction notice.

We want to help you understand this change and your options. This includes either dismissing and restarting your eviction case, or continuing with the existing case, accepting the risk of dismissal.

This page aims to ensure that you are fully informed and aware of these changes. In response, we've adjusted our procedures and will not begin any new cases involving a CARES Act notice without your informed consent.

We aim to stand by you during these challenging times and are ready to help you navigate through them. By acknowledging the changes as outlined below, you affirm your understanding of the new regulations.
