  1. Will the Sheriff be serving or enforcing court ordered evictions?
  • Effective 3/17/2020 residential landlord tenant evictions will not be served, posted or enforced with limited exceptions which may include waste, nuisance or commission of a crime.
  • Effective 3/17/2020 commercial and post-foreclosure writs will not be served, posted or enforced with limited exceptions which may include waste, nuisance or commission of a crime.
  • Effective 3/17/2020 other writs directing removal of occupants from a residential premises will not be served, posted or enforced with limited exceptions which may include waste, nuisance or commission of a crime.
  1. What happens with the writs of restitution in your possession which will likely expire before the Sheriff can enforce?
  • The Sheriff will make return to court on the writ in the time frame provided in the writ or order.
  • The Sheriff will not be moving the court for a blanket order staying the outstanding writs in our possession.
  1. If the Sheriff takes no action on the writ of restitution or real property writ or order will all Sheriff’s fees collected in advance be refunded?
  • Yes
  1. Will the Sheriff continue to accept writs and orders of sale on real property?
  • Yes, however given the moratorium on real property auctions and evictions these writs and orders may be returned to court without service, depending upon when the order or writ expires and when the Sheriff resumes auctions and evictions.
